The Global East

In June, I was invited to speak at the Sotheby’s Institute of Art 50th Anniversary conference,The Art World: Past, Present, Future 1969–2019. I contributed a paper entitled ‘Li Yuan-chia’s Cosmologies since the 1960s: Tracings through Space, Life and Time’ to the panel‘The Global East: Trajectories of Space and Time in Asian Art since the Late 1960s’. Other panellists were Katie Hill, Programme Director, MA Modern and Contemporary Asian Art, Sotheby’s Institute of Art, speaking on ephemeral works as ethico-critical remembrance in China and Ros Holmes, Presidential Academic Fellow in the History of Chinese Art, University of Manchester, speaking on her recent exhibition, ‘Chinternet Ugly’, held at the Centre for Chinese Contemporary Art in Manchester.
